Ross re-sentencing delayed until June

BEDFORD (WSLS 10) - A man serving two life terms plus eight years for a murder he committed as a teen will not be re-sentenced this month.

A Bedford County judge moved Randy Ross' re-sentencing to June 27, after Ross waived his right to have it held within six months of a federal judge's order last October. It had been set for March 28.

The defense asked for the extra time to review the case. The judge also granted the defense request for a pre-sentence report.

The Supreme Court decided mandatory life terms for juveniles are unconstitutional, which means the court must re-sentence Ross.

Ross was 16 when he shot Jamelle Poindexter in 1998.
