ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - A Virginia man is on a mission to walk across the country. Dave Merritt started his walk from Virginia Beach and made it to Roanoke Sunday.
He says he wants to spread the message on how to unite our country. Merritt says he's been averaging roughly 26 miles miles a day. So far he has walked 270 miles.

"I'm doing it in a way where I am interacting with many people to find out how we can unite our country again, and the response has been phenomenal," says Merritt.
