ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - A Roanoke City Police officer was taken to the hospital and treated after an accident Tuesday morning.

Police say it happened just after 7 a.m. when a car hit a concrete barrier.

About 15 minutes later, while an officer was investigating, another vehicle hit the officer's cruiser, which in turn hit the officer.

The officer was taken to the hospital and released after treatment. The second driver was also taken to the hospital but no word on their condition.

Police issued a summons to both drivers for reckless driving and all three vehicles were towed from the scene.
