BEDFORD COUNTY (WSLS 10) - A death investigation is underway in Bedford County after a body was found in the middle of a road on Monday night.
The Bedford County Sheriff's Office says the body was found along Roaring Run Road. Deputies are trying to figure out what happened, but say details are limited.
We don't how many people are being detained, but we do know someone is being questioned at the sheriff's office in connection to the case.
Investigators were called to Roaring Run Road after someone called 911 saying they found a person dead in the road.
On Tuesday morning, multiple area schools were put on lockdown in connection to the investigation.
On Tuesday afternoon, investigators were once again searching under the bridge and all around the area of where the body was found.
Sheriff Mike Brown said this a very complicated case and they are waiting on several agencies for information. Right now, there is no safety concern for people in the area of crime scene of where the body was found.
The victim's name or cause of death is not being released at this time.
There was also police presence at Cottontown Road in Bedford where people were arrested this morning. Brown says all the police activity in Bedford is connected to the death investigation.
There's also an investigation going on in Lynchburg, which police say started out as a missing-persons report on Tuesday morning on Coronado Lane, but investigators will not confirm if it's connected to the Bedford death investigation.
