ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - During the month of April, Delta Airlines and Delta Sky Magazine will present Roanoke and Virginia's Blue Ridge to the entire world.

Delta Sky Magazine, read by an average of more than 165 million passengers per year, will feature a 24-page spread about our region.

"It is huge because it's hitting the right audience," said Visit Virginia's Blue Ridge President Landon Howard.

Howard said this feature spread will introduce travelers to the region as a great tourist destination.

Delta Sky Magazine, which is provided in the backseats of every Delta Jet, reaches some 5.4 million readers per month.

"Delta approached us. They were interested in building a special section," says Howard.

Howard explains it wasn't all done for free, but through a strategic partnership with 12 pages of advertising.

"It's a great way to highlight the incredible outdoor amenities and local retailers and businesses," said marketing outreach coordinator for the city of Roanoke's Department of Parks and Recreation Whitney Slightham.

The Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce believes this partnership with Delta Sky Magazine will increase the economic development in our area.

So anyone flying in a Delta jet during the month of April, will get to discover what is so special about Virginia's Blue Ridge.
