Rewatch: Bedford County Sheriff's Office announces charges in teen homicide investigation

BEDFORD COUNTY (WSLS 10) - Bedford County Sheriff Mike Brown announced on Friday three illegal immigrants have been arrested and charged with second degree murder in the death of 17-year-old Raymond Wood of Lynchburg.

During a news conference Brown said the three suspects, 19-year-old Victor Rodas of Lynchburg, 21-year-old Jose Coreas-Ventura of Lynchburg and 24-year-old Lisandro Vasquez of Maryland are known members of the MS-13 gang. Coreas-Ventura is also charged in the stabbing death of an 18-year-old Maryland man. The three were arrested earlier this week in Bedford County.

According to Brown, it appears Wood did not leave Lynchburg voluntarily on Monday when his body was found in the middle of Roaring Run Road in Bedford County. Investigators say the murder is not random and the investigation has a connection to narcotic related activity.

Bedford County Commonwealth's Attorney Wes Nance said this is a fluid investigation and investigators are "doggedly and strongly determined to bring justice to the family of Raymond Wood."
