Woman pleads guilty to Halifax County DUI crash that killed a 9-year-old boy

HALIFAX COUNTY (WSLS 10) - A woman charged in a deadly DUI that killed a 9-year-old boy has pleaded guilty to several charges.

The charges against Melissa Rhodes include felony homicide, involuntary manslaughter and felony child endangerment with serious injury.

The charges are based on a car crash that happened on August 20, 2016.

Investigators say Rhodes was driving drunk when she crashed at the intersection of Mountain Road and Thompson Store Road.

Her fiance's son, Julian Suttle, was in the car and died a few days later.

Toxicology reports found Rhodes blood alcohol level was point .225.

Rhodes will learn when she'll be sentenced on April 6.
