VA Chamber CEO discusses economic development with Southside business leaders

VA Chamber working to develop state's economic "blueprint"

DANVILLE – Virginia's chamber of commerce CEO is making sure Southside is included in the chamber's next economic development plan.

Tuesday morning, Barry DuVal held a forum in Danville with members of the Danville-Pittsylvania County, Martinsville-Henry County, and Halifax County chambers of commerce.

The goal was to get feedback about what they need and want to help grow the region's economy.

That feedback will be compiled along with information from chambers across the state and then presented to the new governor in December.

"We're going to be focusing on the importance of workforce training. Particularly, jobs that require more than a high school degree but less than a four-year college education," DuVal explained.

In May, he'll be back in our area.

He'll participate in a business summit in Roanoke on May 18 and a forum in Blacksburg on May 31.
