LEXINGTON – Lexington is being called one of the best small towns in the south.
USA Today is conducting an online contest and Lexington is currently in ninth place.
It's also the only town in the top 10 from the Commonwealth.
Lexington, which is situated in the Shenandoah Valley, is home to the Virginia Military Institute and Washington and Lee University.
The article says this gives cultural vibrancy for a college town despite its small size.
Other notable attractions include Stonewall Jackson house, Lee Chapel and the George C. Marshall museum.
The list of small towns was picked by editors and local travelers based on their beauty and culture, but also shopping, dining, entertainment and lodging options.
Voting ends on April 24. You can click here to vote.
