Former Franklin County eagle drafted by Colts

Ohio University star is the Mid-American Conference defensive player of the year

Rocky Mount, Va. –      The Franklin County eagles hit the NFL draft board on Friday evening when defensive end Tarell Basham of Ohio University heard his name called as the 80th overall pick. He was the 3rd round choice of the Indianapolis Colts.  Basham was the MAC defensive player of the year, setting a school record with 29 1/2 sacks in his career. He was named a freshman All-American in 2013. 

  Basham helped the Eagles win three district titles before doing postgraduate studies at Hargrave Military.  He played defensive end, tight end and wide receiver for coach Chris Jones's Franklin County squad. Basham now stands 6-4 and weighs 269 pounds.Â
