Martinsville man sentenced for 2015 Henry County murder

John Henry Wells, Jr. sentenced Wednesday

HENRY COUNTY – A Martinsville man will spend the next 20 years in prison for murdering a Henry County man.

John Henry Wells Jr. was sentenced Wednesday.

He received 40 years, with 23 suspended, for his second-degree murder conviction.

He also received three years for using a firearm and a 12-month suspended sentence for brandishing a firearm.

In January, a judge found Wells Jr. guilty of shooting and killing 24-year-old Dominique Waller in August 2015 at Waller's apartment after the two got into an argument.

Wells Jr. will also be on probation indefinitely upon being released from prison.
