GILES COUNTY, Va. – An earthquake hit Giles County early Friday morning, according to the United States Geological Survey.

The 2.8 quake hit at 12:31 a.m. at a depth of 4.1 km near Narrows.

A quake of that magnitude is typically not felt except by a very few under especially favorable conditions, according to the USGS.
