Radford City Police K9 receives body armor

RADFORD – The vest is a donation from the non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. 

Max’s vest is sponsored by an anonymous donor and embroidered with the sentiment “Donated with admiration - Taco, Sam, Leah & Bree”.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. is a charity located in East Taunton, MA whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement throughout the United States. 

The program is open to dogs actively employed in the U.S. with law enforcement or related agencies who are certified and at least 20 months old. New K9 graduates and K9s with expired vests are eligible to participate as well.

The donation to provide one protective vest is $1,050. Each vest has a five-year warranty and an average weight of four to five pounds.
