$1,000 reward offered for information in Axton graduation party shooting death

Five law enforecement agencies are involved in investigation

PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. – Multiple law enforcement agencies are still searching for the person responsible for a teenager's death this weekend.

Investigators from the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, the Danville Police Department, the Martinsville Police Department and the Virginia State Police, along with the Pittsylvania County Commonwealth’s Attorney, met Tuesday morning to identify leads that have come in up until this point. 

The official cause and manner of death for 17-year-old Tion Kwantae Burton has not been received by investigators from the medical examiner's office. That information is expected sometime this week, according to the Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators are still being told by those who attended the gathering that this was a high school graduation party that was being held specifically for graduating high school seniors in Henry County, Magna Vista and Bassett communities.

The motive for the shooting has not been established.

Credible information received leading to the arrest of a person or person(s) may make a caller eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000. Callers may remain anonymous.
