What's News Today for Tuesday, May 30, 2017

Governor McAuliffe will be in southside making some announcements and touring three Danville breweries. He's expected to make a workforce announcement in Colinsville... And then making an economic development announcement in Martinsville. 

Andrew Sneathern will announce he's running for the Democratic Party's nomination in Virginia's 5th Congressional District. He is a former prosecutor and city attorney. The announcement is today at noon in Charlottesville. 

One of the Americans who took down the gunman on a train in 2015 is going to be at SafeSide Tactical in Roanoke. Alek Skarlatos is an Oregon Army National Guardsman specialist who helped stop a gunman on a Paris-bound train travelling from Amsterdam to Brussels. He will talk about that day, and what we can all take away for our own lives/situations at 1pm and 7pm. It's free to attend. 

If you drive over the Main Street Bridge over the Lynchburg Expressway you'll see work crews. American Electric Power (AEP), in conjunction with the City of Lynchburg, will remove trees before the bridge replacement project begins in October. They say this work is necessary for the project and must be completed before bridge replacement work begins. The bridge will remain open while work is going on.
