24-year-old charged with involuntary manslaughter after hit and run in Christiansburg

CHRISTIANSBURG – Police said Wedstanley Jorthan Balisage, 24, of Roanoke, now faces involuntary manslaughter after a fatal hit-run in Christiansburg.

He also faces a DUI and felony hit-and-run charge in connection with the crash.

Police are investigating say the crash happened Monday afternoon crash on Roanoke Street, near the top of Christiansburg Mountain.

Police say they received the call about the crash at 12:36 p.m.

One vehicle hit a car, causing that car to hit a parked car, which pushed the parked car into a residence, according to Christiansburg police. 

The driver of the first car that was hit, 73-year-old Bobby Cornell Handy, of Shawsville, was pronounced dead at the scene.

No one was inside the parked car.

Balisage is being held without bond at the Montgomery County Jail.
