incident remains under investigatioN

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Charges will not be filed against the student suspected of making a threat against a Heritage High School student Thursday, according to Lynchburg Police.

School resource officers received information that a student at the school had possibly made a threat to burn or bomb a location away from the school with the intent of harming another student at about 10:45 a.m.

Officers say they quickly determined that the suspected student had left the school's campus before officers received the initial information.

As a precaution, both the high school and Heritage Elementary School were placed on lockdown while security checks were completed. After about an hour and a half, the lockdown was lifted and classes resumed.

Several hours later, officers say they located the suspect at a residence in the Fort Avenue / Sandusky area and continued their investigation.

This incident remains under investigation.
