Fire causes damage to Henry County church

Crews responded to a fire at a church in Henry County.

Authorities say it happened on Sunday at about 10:12 p.m., at the Fairway Baptist Church at 9377 Fairystone Park Highway in Bassett. 

The Henry County Department of Public Safety said no one was in the building and no injuries were reported in the fire. It was reported under control at 10:44 p.m. 

There were fire and smoke damage to the building and the department is investigating the cause.

The department is also looking for a vehicle seen leaving the property prior to the fire that may have some information relating to the incident. The vehicle was a newer model burgundy SUV, possibly a Toyota RAV4.
