D-Day memorial receives new Normandy artifacts

BEDFORD, Va. – Several new artifacts arrived at the National D-Day Memorial on Friday.

A visitor from Normandy, Michel Souvray, presented the memorial with a 48 star flag that flew over an American soldier grave in normandy.
Along with it was an etching of a 29th Division soldier's grave. The foundation says it's artifacts like these that helps to tell the complete story of D-Day.

"It's always great when we can get an item brought to us from someone in France that maybe has been passed down through generations and their family. Because it helps to continue tell their story of alliance and friendship and partnership," said Angela Lynch of the National D-Day Foundation.

The artifacts will be on a rotating display at the memorial and also used for educational purposes.
