LYNCHBURG, Va. – A Lynchburg D-Day veteran turned 92 on Friday.

Fellow veterans and friends gathered at Monument Terrace in downtown Lynchburg to celebrate the birthday of Bill Sisk.

He's celebrating his 92ndbirthday just a few days after the June 6 D-Day anniversary.

He remembers his birthday 73 years ago as being a lot different than today.

"I had lots of fireworks, but I had no cake, no candles, no ice cream, no presents but lots of fireworks," said Sisk.

Lt. Gov, Ralph Northam was present during the gathering, to honor Sisk and show his support for other veterans and troops in town.
