Fluvanna teen killed in Navy destroyer accident

FLUVANNA COUNTY, Va. – A Virginia community is mourning the loss of a volunteer firefighter.
Nineteen year-old Dakota Rigsby is among the seven U.S. sailors who were killed when a Navy destroyer collided with a container ship off the coast of Japan.
The U.S. 7th Fleet sad that the destroyer collided with a Philippine container vessel Saturday night when many of the sailors were sleeping.
The ship experienced some flooding and the crew is being credited with keeping the ship from sinking and getting it back to port.
The fire department flag is flying at half staff as crew members remember the sailor.
The Navy and Coast Guard are launching separate investigations into what went wrong.
There is no word on Rigsby's funeral arrangements.
