Raymond Wood murder suspect moved to Roanoke City Jail

BEDFORD COUNTY – Josue Coreas-Ventura will now become an inmate at the Roanoke city jail at the request of his attorney's.

Coreas-Ventura was at the Amherst County Adult Detention Center, but his court-appointed attorneys said the drive was too far for them to provide services to their client.

His attorneys are based out of Roanoke and Salem. The move will give them better access to Coreas-Ventura until the trial starts.

The Commonwealth's attorney and defense agreed to waive the right to a speedy trial.

The original jury trial date in October will now become another motion hearing.

This is because the attorney's don't want to go to trial unless all parties involved are prepared.

Coreas-Ventura is being charged with capital murder. He is one of three MS-13 gang members accused of killing 17-year-old Raymond Wood in March.
