Four on the 4th race, fun run coming up

4 mile race benefits Boys and Girls Clubs

ROANOKE – A unique race is coming up to benefit local kids.  The Four on the 4th race raises money for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Southwest Virginia.   WSLS 10 is a proud sponsor.

It's a four mile race that takes place on the 4th of July in downtown Roanoke.  There's also a one mile fun run that is great for kids and is free.

The money raised from the race supports the after-school program for children 6 to 18-years old.   The Boys and Girls Club is only $15 for children to attend during the school year and includes homework help, exercise and volunteering.

"This gives you an opportunity to go out in the morning, do something good, to celebrate, to get a run in, to get some exercise in and then to go spend the rest of the day out on the lake or cooking out in your backyard," said Michelle Dykstra, Boys and Girls Clubs of Southwest Virginia executive director.

The race starts at 8 a.m.   To register visit the race website: https://runsignup.com/fouronthe4th
