North Carolina dog found tied to tree, went months without food, vet says
It could take six months for dog to return to healthy weight
PITT COUNTY, N.C. – Kids playing in the woods in North Carolina this past weekend found a dog a veterinarian says was without proper food for at least two months, according to WITN.
According to the NBC affiliate, Pitt County Animal Shelter Director Michele Whaley said the female terrier/pit bull mix is probably 1 to 2 years old.
Treatment to get the dog back to a healthy weight could take up to six months, according to veterinarian Dr. April Wyatt.
Without the help of the children, Pitt County Animal Services said the dog would likely not have survived much longer.
