In order to try to save her baby, authorities said doctors had to deliver the baby girl by performing an emergency cesarean section.

Pennsylvania State Police told WPXI it is charging Dischman, who is recovering in a hospital, with aggravated assault on an unborn child.

The baby is in critical condition and on life support. If she does not survive, police say they plan to charge Dischman with homicide.
