Police: Pa. woman facing charges after overdosing while 7 months pregnant
If the baby dies, Dischman will be charged with homicide
EAST BUTLER, Pa. – A Pennsylvania woman is facing charges after police say she overdosed while seven months pregnant, according to WPXI.
The NBC affiliate reports that authorities say 30-year-old Kasey Dischman overdosed in her East Butler, Pennsylvania, home on Friday, days after getting out of jail for retail theft.
In order to try to save her baby, authorities said doctors had to deliver the baby girl by performing an emergency cesarean section.
Pennsylvania State Police told WPXI it is charging Dischman, who is recovering in a hospital, with aggravated assault on an unborn child.
The baby is in critical condition and on life support. If she does not survive, police say they plan to charge Dischman with homicide.
