Kids learn about bike safety at Bedford County bike rodeo

Bedford County Sheriff's Office kicks of first annual Bike Rodeo for Kids

BEDFORD, Va. – The Bedford County Sheriff's Office hosted its first annual Bike Rodeo for Kids.

Participants learned about bike safety and proper riding habits.

The 14 children who participated went through a series of riding courses to improve their control and safe riding ability.

Several children who showed up with training wheels left without them.

Each child received a new helmet and had his or her bike inspected.

The training was conducted by bike patrol officers from the Bedford County Sheriff's Office, the Bedford Police Department and the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries.

The Sheriff's Office said the event was a success and plans are already underway for next year's rodeo.
