Berglund Center announces big giveaway as profits improve

One winner will receive 2 tickets to every event and free Chick-Fil-A for a year

ROANOKE – The Berglund Center in Roanoke announces one winner will receive a pair of free tickets to every concert, hockey game and performance over the next year.

The Chick-Fil-A Big Ticket Giveaway comes at a time when the center is seeing big improvements, bringing in more money and reducing the amount of money the City of Roanoke provides to keep the facility running each year.

In 2010, the Roanoke Civic Center needed more than $1 million in operating funds from the city to keep running each year. Since then, Berglund Automotive Group has purchased the naming rights.

Robyn Schon, the General Manager of the center, says funding is now down to $511,000. She says that drop in the need for funding comes in part from bringing back a professional hockey team, the Rail Yard Dawgs. She says there have also been some big capital improvements over the past few years, reducing the amount of energy used and saving more than $200,000 a year.

The Berglund Center has continued to bring in big names, like Chris Stapleton and Elton John, two concerts that quickly sold out.

This Chick-Fil-A Big Ticket Giveaway is the first giveaway of it's type. Devan Logwood says a full year of tickets is the biggest giveaway the Berglund Center has ever held. The winner will also get a free year of Chick-Fil-A food.

It's free to register, you can do so at Chick-Fil-A in Bonsack on Challenger Avenue or online. Online registration opens at 9 a.m., click here for more details.

The winner will be announced on August 8.
