Patrick County man killed in crash

The crash happened Friday morning at intersection of routes 58, 8

PATRICK COUNTY, Va. – A Patrick County man is dead after a two-vehicle crash Friday morning.

Virginia State Police said the crash occurred Friday just before 11 a.m. at the intersection of Route 58 and Route 8 in Patrick County.

Police say a 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer was traveling south on Route 8. As it pulled across the westbound lanes of Route 58, it pulled into the path of an oncoming, 2000 Ford F-150 pickup truck. The pickup was unable to avoid the Mitsubishi and struck the driver’s side.

The driver of the Mitsubishi, 87-year-old Amos B. Morrison, of Stuart, was transported to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where he died Friday afternoon. He was wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the pickup, a 65-year-old Stuart man, was treated at the scene for minor injuries. He was also wearing a seat belt.

The crash remains under investigation.
