Neighbors respond to shooting in Rocky Mount mobile home park

Police continue to investigate shooting

ROCKY MOUNT, Va. – Investigators in Franklin County say there's more to the story after a man was shot Friday night.

It happened at a home in the Chris Drive Mobile Home Park in Rocky Mount.

The Sheriff's Office says a call came in that someone broke into the home. When deputies arrived they found 33-year-old Billy Doss shot in the chest.

Investigators say Jeffery Williams, Jr. told police he shot Doss when he tried to enter the house.

Williams is charged with felony malicious wounding.

Neighbors who didn't want to go on camera say the man and the woman living at the home have a history of domestic issues.

The Sheriff's Office plans to release more information as soon as investigators talk with Doss who's still in the hospital.
