Bear dies after running into car in Franklin County

All three people inside the vehicle were wearing seat belts

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. – Emergency crews responded Sunday after a black bear ran into a car in Franklin County, overturning it.

Volunteers with Boones Mill Volunteer Fire/EMS say the bear was running across the road and ran into the side of a vehicle on Route 220, just north of the volunteer fire department station.

All three people inside the vehicle were wearing seat belts and did not have to be hospitalized, according to the Boones Mill Volunteer Department.

The bear died from its injuries.
