Henry County puppies found emaciated at landfill continuing to improve

Puppies recovering at local vet

HENRY COUNTY, Va. – Two Henry County puppies continue to recover after apparently being dumped and left for dead.

As we reported Tuesday, the puppies were found extremely emaciated at the Henry County landfill over the weekend.

They were brought to the Martinsville-Henry County SPCA and are now being cared for by a local vet.

The SPCA is offering a reward for information that leads to an arrest.

According to the SPCA, if the puppies were in fact dumped, the person or people who dumped them would be charged with abandonment and possibly cruelty to animals.

"Right now, it's kind of a waiting game until they are healthy enough and big enough to be able to eat on their own. At that point, they can leave the vet's office and go into, probably, a foster home," said Martinsville-Henry County SPCA donor relations director Catherine Gupton.

If you have any information, contact the SPCA at (276) 638-7297.
