Patrick County farm house fire being investigated as arson


PATRICK SPRINGS, Va. – A fire that destroyed an 1800s farm house last month is being investigated as arson, according to Virginia State Police.

At approximately 5:16 a.m. on July 18, a passerby alerted Patrick County Fire and Rescue that the house, located at 1288 South County Line Road in Patrick Springs, was on fire and fully engulfed. 

Both fire crews and members of the Patrick County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.  

Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation’s Salem Field Office also responded and found the fire originated on the screened-in porch at the rear of the unoccupied structure.
