Self-proclaimed 'sugardady' banned from seeking 'sugarbaby' on beach

73-year-old man 'devastated'

A Florida beach banned a 73-year-old man after he handed out business cards with the intent of finding a "sugarbaby."

CBS News reports Richard Basaraba's business cards read, "Sugardaddy seeking his sugarbaby," and featured a photo of a man with a young woman on his lap. Basaraba said he was "devastated" when officials told him to stay off of the beach and walkovers for six months for violating a soliciting ordinance. He claims to not have done anything wrong, and he was careful not to hand the cards to anyone under the age of 18.

"I'm really upset about it," Basaraba said. "This really  knocked me for a loop." Basaraba also mentioned that he recently bought a T-shirt that says "Accepting application 4A sugar baby," which he says is a "conversation starter."

A mother of a 16-year-old girl who was approached by Basaraba says the man told her daughter to call him when she's 18. He claimed to have approached her "because of her bust size."

Basaraba says he's embarrassed and would like to apologize to the teen and her mother. He has since thrown out his business cards and deleted the accompanying email account.
