Lynchburg man wanted on abduction, rape charges found dead

LYNCHBURG, Va. – UPDATE (8:08 p.m.) Lynchburg police say the 33-year-old man they were searching for who was wanted on multiple charges is dead.

Police responded to the 1500 block of Fillmore Street on Tuesday where they found a dead man who they say shot himself.

The man was identified as Curtis Lamont Dammones. The body is being sent to the Medical Examiner’s office for further confirmation.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.


Lynchburg police are looking for a man accused of rape and abduction. 

Curtis Lamont Dammones, 33, of Lynchburg, may be armed. He is wanted for abduction by force, rape, discharging a firearm within the city, and the use of a firearm in commission of a felony. 

Police responded to a report of an abduction and assault on Monday. Officers learned that Dammones was possibly armed in a home in the 1100 block of Wise Street, so they called in a tactical unit to search the home. They did not find Dammones. 

Police are not releasing any more information on the incident at this time.
