Manhunt continues in Botetourt County

Right now, everyone is staying pretty tight-lipped about investigation

BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. – The search continued Monday for William Roberts.

Law enforcement officers focused their search efforts in the Gala area until Sunday, when surveillance video taken at a gas station showed he was on the move.

Right now, everyone is staying pretty tight-lipped about the investigation, mainly because they're not sure where he is and they don't want to tip him off.

Police said they're still searching and following leads in Botetourt County, but they don't think Roberts is in the Gala area anymore.

The last time he was spotted, surveillance footage showed Roberts at a local convenience store early Sunday morning. He tried to use his credit card to put gas into a stolen truck. His card was denied, which alerted police.

They said if he tries to use the card again, they'll likely get another alert.

Police say to be on the lookout for a stolen white Ford F-150 with Virginia plates XLT8584.

Roberts was last seen heading south on Route 220.

He is a former U.S. Marine wanted in Colorado for a felony traffic assault that left a woman in a coma.

His father says he suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder and has had two traumatic brain injuries.

We're told Roberts has family in Halifax and Mecklenburg counties, so it's possible he could be headed there.
