Here's a look at some of the stories we'll be following today


Two informational meetings take place today about the Mountain Valley Pipeline.  The director of the Department of Environmental Quality will make opening remarks before answering questions and accepting comments about the water quality certification for the pipeline.  The first meeting starts at 1 p.m. in Newport in Giles County.  The second meeting starts at 5 p.m. at Cave Spring High School in Roanoke County.

The City of Lynchburg holds listening session about its Downtown 2040 Master Plan.  The meetings cover business, transportation and parking, quality of life and development.  Meetings take place from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Riverviews Artspace.

Meet Roanoke County Police for Coffee with a Cop.  The event allows people to meet with cops in a calm and neutral setting, in an effort to build relationships and talk about community issues.  Officers will be at the Bojangles on Peters Creek Road from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.

A new restaurant opens in Roanoke.  Zoes Kitchen will open at 11 a.m., bringing fast-casual Mediterranean dishes to Towers shopping center.  To celebrate the opening, Zoes is giving away buy one, get one free entrees and will announce the winner of free food for a year.

Due to tonight's NFL pre-season game, some of your favorite NBC shows will air at different times.  The Wall will air Friday morning at 2:07 a.m.  SNL Weekend Update air Friday morning at 3:07 a.m.  Good news will air Saturday morning at 3:07 a.m. and The Night Shift will air Saturday morning at 2:07 a.m.  Tonight, you can watch the Washington Redskins take on the Baltimore Ravens starting at 7:30 p.m.

Representatives from the Martinsville-Henry County Chamber of Commerce and Appalachian Power will hold a joint news conference today.  It starts at 1 p.m. at the chamber office in Martinsville.
