Warrants issued for man after incidents on UVA campus

Police searching for Christopher Cantwell, of Keene, New Hampshire

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Virginia Police Department has issued arrest warrants for a man connected with incidents on the university's grounds on Aug. 11.

Police said Christopher Cantwell, of Keene, New Hampshire, is wanted for illegal use of tear gas, phosgene and other gases, and malicious bodily injury by means of any caustic substance or agent or use of any explosive or fire.

Police said their investigation is active and that Cantwell should turn himself in immediately to any police agency.

Anyone with information about the incidents on the UVA grounds on Aug. 11 is asked to call police at 434-924-7166.
