Woman charged after car hits utility pole in Lynchburg

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Police charged a Lynchburg woman after a crash in Lynchburg damaged a utility pole.

Police say 20-year-old Jahnia Boyd was driving a 2003 Ford Focus westbound in the area of Rutherford Street when the driver suddenly began swerving before losing control of the vehicle and hitting a utility pole.

Boyd is charged with reckless driving.

Police responded to the 3500 block of Fort Avenue at 10:31 a.m.

The pole needed significant repairs and about 200 Appalachian Power customers were without power in that area.

Police had to temporarily block Fort Avenue between Oakridge Boulevard and Rutherford Street.

Police say she only received minor injuries in the crash.
