NWS releases rain totals in Greater Houston, surrounding area

Harris, Galveston counties see up to of 26 inches of rain

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A statement from the National Weather Service Sunday night showed some parts of Harris and Galveston counties have seen up to 26 inches of rain in the last 72 hours.

The most rain was recorded in Harris County at 26.35 inches, with Galveston County trailing right behind at 26.28 inches.

Other counties in the area weren't far behind in the amount of rain they have received:

  • Austin County -- 21.41 inches
  • Brazoria County -- 25.04 inches
  • Brazos County -- 13.92 inches
  • Burleson County -- 13.25 inches
  • Chambers County -- 12.20 inches
  • Colorado County -- 21.91 inches
  • Fort Bend County -- 23.07 inches
  • Grimes County -- 11.49 inches
  • Houston County -- 2.18 inches
  • Jackson County -- 9.28 inches
  • Liberty County -- 25.94 inches
  • Matagorda County -- 14.98
  • Montgomery County -- 19.60 inches
  • San Jacinto County -- 18.49
  • Walker County -- 12.17 inches
  • Waller County -- 20.12 inches
  • Washington County -- 17.02 inches
  • Wharton County -- 14.58 inches
