Danville police make arrest in Belk break-in



Danville police arrested a man accused of breaking into a Belk store. 

Christopher Thomas Perkins, 20, of Danville, was arrested without incident at a home in Danville Thursday. The break-in happened early Monday morning. 

Officers were able to recover the stolen items.

Perkins is charged with breaking and entering, possessing burglary tools, obtaining money by false pretenses, and buying or receiving stolen property. 

Perkins is being held at the Danville City Jail on a $10,000 bond. 

Danville police are thanking the public for helping with this investigation. 


Danville police are investigating a breaking and entering incident at Belk that happened early Monday morning.

At about 4:40 a.m., police responded to Belk in the Danville Mall in reference to a breaking and entering of the business.

Entry appeared to have been made by breaking out both exterior and interior doorways, according to police.

Once inside, police say the suspect removed an undisclosed amount of store merchandise.

Although the incident was captured by the store security camera, that footage is not being released at this time.

Police are asking the public to help identify a man whose image is seen in the Belk store video. Police say he is not a suspect but may have information important to the investigation.
