God's Pit Crew sets up water collection sites

Organization collecting bottled water to take to Texas

SOUTH BOSTON, Va. – Supply drives were underway Wednesday across southwest Virginia to help God's Pit Crew collect water to send to Texas.

As we reported on Monday, God's Pit Crew started working to get supply drives set up after sending two truck loads of water and other supplies over the weekend.

Two more trucks left Wednesday.

Halifax Christian School in Halifax County is serving as a water collection site through Saturday.

Truck Enterprises in Lynchburg and Pulaski Church of God are also serving as collection sites through Saturday.

The Galax Walmart will serve as a collection site on Friday.

Halifax Christian School officials said as soon as the announcement that the school would serve as a collection site was made, people started donating water.

Money to purchase water is also being donated.

As of Wednesday, the school had enough to purchase 26 pallets.

"We've been getting calls since the very beginning every day. Multiple this morning, from three different churches this morning, that are bringing over at least a pallet of water or supporting monetarily," said senior administrator T. Wayne Daniels.

Water and other supplies can always be dropped off at God's Pit Crew's warehouse, located at 2499 North Main Street in Danville.
