Martinsville city employees collect thousands of bottles of water for hurricane victims

Employees had collected nearly 30,000 Thursday

MARTINSVILLE, Va. – Martinsville city employees have collected close to 30,000 bottles of water to help victims of Hurricane Harvey.

The Martinsville Police Department started serving as a collection site Wednesday.

About 12,000 bottles were collected and the department expected to surpass that Thursday.

The water is being given to God's Pit Crew to take to Texas.

The department plans to continue to serve as a collection site as long as people are willing to donate water.
