Fleet Feet Roanoke taking shoe, sock donations for Hurricane Harvey victims

The store is collecting new or gently used running shoes and new socks.

ROANOKE, Va. – Fleet Feet Sports says it's taking donations for the people impacted by Hurricane Harvey.

The store in Roanoke says it will take new or gently used running shoes and new socks to send to stores in Texas. The Fleet Feet stores in Houston and San Antonio will give out the donations.

The shoes can be dropped off in Roanoke any time during normal business hours.

"As a brand we've got about 170 stores nationwide, and we felt like we could make a big impact helping people in that community. We typically do this kind of thing locally, but we wanted to pool our resources and try to make a difference," said Andrew Holbrook, with Fleet Feet Sports.

The store says it doesn't have a donation deadline right now, but it's hoping to get plenty of shoes and socks by the end of next week.Â
