First-arriving crews did find heavy smoke showing from the attic of the house. The fire was mostly confined to the attic, however there is smoke and water damage throughout the home, according to the fire department.

The Red Cross has been notified to assist the three adults and four children who lived in the home. The family has two dogs that are safe and two cats, which are unaccounted for, but believed to also be safe.

The fire department says the area of the county where the fire was is very rural with no fire hydrants and narrow roads, which posed some challenges for crews. Firefighters on scene shuttled water in tankers to the scene of the fire.

The fire marshal’s office is on-scene to investigate a cause. They estimate the damage at $35,000.
