Airlines issue travel waivers for certain destinations in light of Hurricane Irma

Airlines now allowing larger time window for schedule changes

ROANOKE, Va. – As Irma barrels toward the U.S., airlines are beginning to issue travel waivers for certain destinations in the storm’s path.

Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport spokesman Brad Boettcher says airlines are being very proactive allowing people to change their trip.

“If you have a ticket to be flying to South Florida or really anywhere in Florida at this point, definitely check their website under the travel alerts, and it will let you know what your options are,” Boettcher said.

Boettcher reminds travelers that the situation is fluid and airlines are now allowing a much larger time window for travelers to make schedule changes.
