Hundreds participate in Lynchburg's "9/11 Never Forget Memorial Run"

Organizers say the run is to commemorate the lives lost in 9/11

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Hundreds of people participated in Lynchburg’s 9/11 Never Forget Memorial Run. At the American Legion Post 16 Memorial Park, more than 150 runners and walkers are expected to participate in the 7th annual event. Organizers say the run is to commemorate the lives lost in 9/11, 16 years ago.

They say money raised in the run is used to help local veterans.

"We still have veterans that are losing their lives every day for our freedom. So we like to every year just let them know that we still think about them and that we still know that this is important to all of us,” Laura Meadows, with the American Legion Post 16, said.

Organizers say last year, they raised about $3,000 and hope to double that this year.
