Martinsville Henry County SPCA begins new initiative to help get dogs adopted

SPCA teaming up with local bistro to hold monthly 'Coffee and Canines' event

MARTINSVILLE, Va. – There's a new initiative working to get shelter dogs in Southside adopted.

On the fourth Friday of every month, The Martinsville Henry County SPCA will bring dogs to the back porch of Serendipity Coffee House & Bistro for "Coffee & Canines."

The first event was held Friday.

People are also encouraged to bring their dogs and have lunch with the furry friends.

SPCA community relations manager Suzy Williams hopes this will help get some of the SPCA's roughly 80 dogs adopted.

"The more we come out and interact with the public, the more we make people aware of what we are, where we are, and and what we have to offer," Williams emphasized.

"And, we also like to get all the babies exposed as much as possible."

The events will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
