Roanoke Police: Woman stabbed herself on 5th Street



A spokesman for the Roanoke Police Department says that police have determined the wound was self-inflicted. 

The woman was convulsing and has been taken to the hospital. Her condition is unknown.


Roanoke police are responding to a reported stabbing on 5th Street SW Wednesday morning. 

A woman was loaded onto a stretcher around 10:50 a.m. It happened close to the Elm Ave. intersection. 

She was bleeding from her stomach and said that someone had slashed her. 

Several bystanders helped her before medics arrived. All said they had not witnessed the alleged attack. 

There is no suspect at this time.
