Salem woman describes being in Las Vegas during mass shooting
LAS VEGAS – We're hearing from a Salem woman who was just a few blocks away from the deadly shooting in Las Vegas.
Linda Thompson and her husband were on an outdoor patio for dinner Sunday night when they started to see police cars and ambulances flying by.
Their waitress told them officers were searching for a shooter in the area, so they went back to their hotel room, less than three blocks from the Mandalay Bay, and turned on the local news.
"There was a huge police presence outside, police on every block. There was one right in front of our hotel; they're all just kind of standing there. There's not a threat anymore, but there is a big police presence right now," said Thompson.
It's an increased police presence Las Vegas will continue to see over the next several days.
