LYNCHBURG, Va – Applications for Salvation Army's Angel Tree assistance are now being accepted.
The Salvation Army's program helps families that are struggling financially provide toys to kids during the holidays.
Last year, more than 1,000 children in need throughout Central Virginia received new gifts and clothes because of the program.
“There's been a lot going on in our economy and our country this year. If you have just can't seem to scrape together enough money to make sure that your kids have toys under the tree, then we would love for you to come down here and see us. And then we can make sure that your children get something underneath the Christmas tree,” Capt. Sheri Jones, Lynchburg Salvation Army, said.
Applications are being accepted until Oct. 13. The Salvation Army hopes to hand out the toys in mid-December.
